But I'll Tell Her Again

  The last conversation we shared
Had a million things to cover.
I forgot to say I cared.
Mom understands. She knows I love her.

My mom must know I love her,
Though we’re busy and far apart.
She feels it -- she knows I’m sure
Of deep devotion in my heart.

The last time we met, we two
Talked til the moon turned dapple-gray.
I forgot to say, “I love you.”
Mom understands. I forget that way.

I’ve told her before. She knows
The great joy she brought with her stay,
How love for her grows and grows.
….. But I’ll tell her again today.
